Shubman Gill's Resilience: Rising from Struggles to Success in Test Cricket

Shubman Gill understands what it's like to have the chips taken away. He had struggled both at home and abroad and had gone through 12 innings without scoring a half-century.

He was able to breathe a little easier, however, thanks to a strong century in the second innings in Visakhapatnam, which laid the groundwork for the series-leveling triumph. In Rajkot, he added another 91 in the second innings to solidify his comeback.

However, these critiques don't really affect the third batter. He's learned to move on and take it all in stride.

"There is always disappointment, but it was more about me and my own expectations," Gill said on Wednesday at a press conference in Ranchi.

The sounds outside didn't really get to me. In times like this, it's critical to seize the next chance that presents itself. You have to put the past behind you and concentrate only on the next ball.

"The ability to go on and forget about the last inning, whether it was good or poor, is what separates a strong player from an ordinary one. Great players are the ones who can do this with ease.

"You constantly have expectations of yourself. It goes without saying that you want to support the team and contribute as much as you can. My mentality is still the same as it was before. Gill said, "It all comes down to putting the past behind you and responding to the present circumstances.

Additionally, he downplayed reports that his lean patch resulted from switching from opening to No. 3.

"I have played domestic cricket as well as batting at No. 3 and No. 4 for the India A team. Thus, it's not anything I have never done before," he said.

"I haven't made many technological modifications to my game... Opening an innings is different since you don't have much time to reflect. You are the one establishing the tone, and whether you are batting at 3/4 or in the middle order, you must play the circumstances.

Regarding the second and third Tests, how would he rank his knocks?

Even if I had been cool and collected throughout the Vizag Test, I don't believe I could have performed any differently. However, my experience in that game was distinct. When I arrived to bat in Rajkot, the squad was already well-positioned.
