On the first day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B encounter at Eden Gardens on Friday, Bengal defeated Bihar for 95 runs thanks to four wickets each from Mukesh Kumar and Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal.

With Abhimanyu Easwaran (48 batting) and Anustup Majumdar (13 batting) at the crease, Bengal was 111/2 at stumps in response.

After Bihar batted, they were down at 20/3. They found it difficult to stop Bengal's opening bowlers' lateral movement.

To assist the visitors reach 50, Sakibul Gani (14), and Rishav Raj (26) contributed 32 runs for the fourth wicket.

But Mukesh ended the partnership when he removed Rishav and then trapped Gani leg before in the following over, putting Bihar in a difficult situation at 53/5.

Despite the flow of play, Raghuvendra Pratap Singh scored a solid twenty-three, but the lower-order batsmen could not muster any resistance. For only 42 runs, Bihar lost their last five wickets.

"I like bowling for Bengal just as much as I enjoy bowling for India. I'm pleased with my performance today. Suraj is also playing consistently with the ball, and I'm hoping for a promising future for him. Certainly, my expertise at the Indian level is beneficial to me here, Mukesh said after the day's play.

Bihar 95 (Mukesh Kumar 4/18, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal 4/47) is the brief score. Bengal 111/2 (batting for 48 runs, Abhimanyu Easwaran). Day I at stumps
