Siliguri Mayor and Social Organizations Ask Police and Govt to Take Strict Measures to Stop Use of Prohibited Crackers During Diwali

In order to stop people from using sound crackers that are prohibited during Diwali, Mayor Gautam Deb and leaders of many social organizations in this area have asked the police and government to take strict measures.

Additionally, the mayor has requested that the police make every effort to stop illicit gaming.

We've discovered that, in spite of several prohibitions, some individuals disobey the orders of the government and set off forbidden crackers during Kali Puja and Diwali. I asked the Siliguri Metropolitan Police commissioner to take decisive action to stop these kinds of illicit activities," Deb said on Thursday at this place during a meeting to prepare for Diwali and Kali Puja.

In order to stop gambling, the mayor said he had pleaded with the police to closely monitor restaurants and pubs.

Deb said, "Such locations shouldn't be permitted to stay open unattended all night."

He suggested that organizers of Kali Puja in Siliguri hold pandals-wide awareness campaigns on preventing dengue and the prohibition on plastic carry-alls.

On Friday, representatives from many municipal organizations will gather for a silent Diwali.

There are very little restrictions on the usage of prohibited crackers in Siliguri. For this reason, in a day or two, we will make public a hotline number where any local may report such illicit activities. "We will promptly forward it to the relevant authority for any necessary actions," said Animesh Bose, the Himalayan Nature & Adventure Foundation's program coordinator.

The police have been conducting searches in and around Siliguri over the last several weeks, seizing crackers that are prohibited.

"Our cops are closely monitoring the situation. Anybody caught selling or keeping prohibited crackers will be subject to legal repercussions. A police officer said, "People should only go to the administration-set up cracker markets and utilize the crackers that are sold at its stands.
