Tightened Security Measures for Mukhtar Ansari's Last Rites in Ghazipur
Funeral Arrangements Underway for Former Gangster and Politician
In anticipation of the last ceremonies for gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari on Saturday, security measures have been tightened around his Ghazipur home and a cemetery in the district of Uttar Pradesh.
The last ceremonies for Mukhtar Ansari, whose corpse was returned to his hometown on Friday around midnight after he had a cardiac arrest on Thursday, are expected to take place at approximately 10 a.m., according to family sources.
According to the reports, Ansari's funeral rites are already in progress, and the corpse will be brought to the Kali Bagh cemetery, where a hole was excavated on Friday.
The burial area is around 1.5 kilometers away from the Ansari mansion, and a considerable number of security guards have been stationed there.
Suhaib Ansari, a Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA and Mukhtar Ansari's nephew, posted on X on Friday, informing users that his uncle Mukhtar Ansari had died the previous night. He will be laid to rest at our Yusufpur Mohammadabad (Ghazipur) Kali Bagh cemetery tomorrow at 10 am. We ask that you all offer prayers for the pardon of the departed. Following the post-mortem on Friday, Ansari's remains was driven in a convoy under strict security from Banda to his home town of Ghazipur at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Police cars followed the 400-kilometer ambulance carrying the corpse as it passed through many districts in Uttar Pradesh.
When Mukhtar Ansari's health worsened on Thursday night, he was taken from the Banda prison to the Rani Durgawati Medical College. During his hospital stay, he passed away.
