TMC Leader's Arrest Sparks Controversy: BJP Claims "Deal," Party Denies
Suvendu Adhikari alleges Shahjahan Sheikh in police custody, Trinamul calls it BJP's ploy
The head of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Suvendu Adhikari, said on Wednesday that Shahjahan Sheikh, the leader of the Trinamul Congress, had been taken from Bermajur 2 panchayat on Tuesday night as part of a "deal" and was now in the "safe custody" of the police.
Adhikari stated on X: "Mamata Police has been keeping the Scoundrel of Sandeshkhali, Seikh Shahjahan, safe since 12 am last night." After he successfully negotiated a deal with the Mamata Police via powerful intermediaries, he was removed from the Bermajur - II Gram Panchayat region and promised to be well-cared for while in police and judicial custody."
If Adhikari knew so much, according to Trinamul spokesman Kunal Ghosh, he had to tell the ED and CBI exactly where Shahjahan was. Shahjahan arrived in Trinamul thanks to Suvendu. He and him get along well," Ghosh told reporters.
