Tom Cruise, the star of Top Gun: Maverick, revealed on Wednesday that he and Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group have formed a strategic collaboration that will see the two companies work together to produce original and franchise theatrical pictures starring Cruise starting in 2024.

"Happy to announce this news. Cruise shared a press statement on Instagram, stating, "I'm excited to work on amazing films with you." The release also disclosed that the actor and his production firm would be based out of the Warner Bros. Discovery property in Burbank.

The Mission Impossible actor last collaborated with Warner Bros. Pictures over ten years ago, costarring with Emily Blunt in the sci-fi action movie Edge of Tomorrow, directed by Doug Liman.

Rock of Ages (2012), The Last Samurai (2003), Magnolia (1999), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Interview with the Vampire (1994), Risky Business (1983), and The Outsiders (1983) are among Cruise's other projects with the aforementioned film and entertainment studio.

Warner Bros. Pictures and the 61-year-old actor have a collaboration that is not exclusive. Cruise is presently filming Mission: Impossible 8 at Paramount. He will also continue to work with Universal, where he is producing a USD 200 million shot-in-space film under Doug Liman's direction. With the upcoming sci-fi action movie, the actor is expected to accomplish the historic feat of being the first citizen to perform a spacewalk outside of the International Space Station.

Micael De Luca and Pam Abdy, the co-chairs and CEOs of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, signed the strategic alliance on behalf of the company.

"We are excited to collaborate with Tom, a true legend in the movie business. David Zaslav told us that, "We are on a mission to bring Warner Bros back...and we need to get Tom Cruise back to Warner Bros!" when we initially sat down to discuss joining the Warner Bros Discovery team. In a joint statement, De Luca and Abdy stated, "Today, that becomes a reality and we are one step closer to achieving our ambition."

The spy action movie directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, which became the ninth most grossing blockbuster of 2023, was the last time Cruise was spotted.
