Baby Yoda Returns: Grogu Set to Star in New Star Wars Film 'The Mandalorian and Grogu

The official Star Wars website revealed on Tuesday that Baby Yoda, also known as Grogu, will appear in a new Star Wars film with The Mandalorian.

The new film named The Mandalorian and Grogu will be directed and produced by director John Favreau, who previously oversaw the Disney+ live-action series The Mandalorian in 2019. The project, whose production will start later this year, will also involve Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy.

Grogu and the Mandalorian are making their way to the big screen. The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is helmed by Jon Favreau and produced by him, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, is set to begin production later this year, the Star Wars series announced on its official X Twitter.

George Lucas created a fascinating world, and Favreau said he had loved telling stories set in it. "It's very exciting to think about bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen," he continued.

Since the release of The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, Favreau's Disney+ series The Mandalorian has become a part of the Star Wars film franchise. It tells the story of Pedro Pascal's character, a bounty hunter, who accepts the task of defending a young alien named Grogu. The show is presently developing a fourth season after airing for three seasons.

Leading Lucasfilm's forthcoming feature-development docket are The Mandalorian and Grogu, with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni, and James Mangold among its directors.
