Warner's Farewell Begins in Perth: Opener Included in Australia's First Test Squad
David Warner.

David Warner was included in Australia's squad for the first of three home Test matches against Pakistan, giving him the opportunity to say goodbye to the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Only the 37-year-old opener is included in the Sunday-announced squad, which is only for the first Test in Perth from December 14–19.

Warner will have the opportunity to say goodbye to his home ground of Sydney from January 3 to 7, provided he maintains his spot for the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which begins on Boxing Day.

Warner has averaged 28 in the longest format since he made a triple century against Pakistan in Adelaide in the summer of 2019, but his recent test results have been inconsistent. He has stated that he wants to finish his Baggy Green career in Sydney while still being an Australian white-ball cricket player.

Usman Khawaja and Warner will open the batting together in the summer. Meanwhile, Cameron Bancroft, Matt Renshaw, and Marcus Harris will have the opportunity to make an impression with the Prime Minister's XI when they play Pakistan in Canberra on December 6–9.

Following his recall to the 14-man squad, fast bowler Lance Morris is getting closer to making his Test debut. Cameron Green, who was previously denied a Test spot by Mitch Marsh, is also back. The keeper of the team is Alex Carey.

After overcoming a calf injury that kept him out of the later stages of the Ashes series, spinner Nathan Lyon is back. He takes Todd Murphy's place.

The following players represent Australia: Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Lance Morris, Steve Smith, Mitch Starc, David Warner, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Marc Cummins, captain of Australia
