Director Sourav Chakraborty is back with the second season of the political-drama series “Rajneeti”, set to delve deeper into the power dynamics in the politically volatile fictional town of Rijpur. Titled “Abar Rajneeti”, Season 2 of the series is slated to premiere on Hoichoi on May 24, as announced by the makers alongside a trailer on Friday.
The official handle of the streaming platform shared the trailer with a captivating caption: “A new warrior is entering the battlefield to seize the throne of Rijpur. The political game is about to become even more terrifying! Ditipriya Roy reprises her role as Rashi, the daughter of political bigwig Rathin Banerjee (played by Kaushik Ganguly) and Mallika (played by Konineeca Banerjee). The previous season ended with the sudden death of Rathin due to a heart attack during an election campaign, leading Mallika to take up the reins of the party. When Rashi learns that Mallika might have orchestrated Rathin’s death, she decides to enter the political fray as well. With the mother and daughter facing off, the politics of Rijpur is bound to heat up.
Adding to the intrigue, Rathin’s elder brother Pratim Banerjee (also played by Kaushik Ganguly), who was absconding all these years, has returned. Meanwhile, Rashi’s childhood friend Shaunak (played by Arjun Chakrabarty) and her doctor Debojit (played by Aniruddha Gupta) also emerge as important players in this game of thrones.
“Abar Rajneeti” is the latest addition to Sourav Chakraborty’s collaborations with Hoichoi. His last web series “Chemistry Mashi”, which marked Debasree Roy’s OTT debut, premiered on Hoichoi in February. With the return of “Rajneeti”, viewers can expect another thrilling exploration of political power struggles and personal dynamics.
