Preity Zinta Reflects on Her Only Antagonist Role in Bollywood

Actress Preity Zinta took to Instagram on Friday to reflect on the only antagonist role she has played in her 26-year-long Bollywood career. She paid tribute to her character Sonia Sinha from the 2003 medical drama “Armaan”, directed by Honey Irani.

In her post, Zinta described Sonia as an “emotional bag of contradictions”, who was happy and sad at the same time, deeply insecure, and very low in confidence. Despite having a good heart, Sonia was too lost and insecure to listen to it. She lived in her own world, yet managed to destroy everyone else’s.

Alongside her note, Zinta shared a clip featuring Gracy Singh (Dr Neha Mathur) and Anil Kapoor (Dr Akash Sinha), shedding light on Sonia’s manipulative nature and her deep-seated insecurities. Sonia suspects that her husband Akash is having an affair with his colleague Neha and comes up with ways to create a rift between them.

Zinta thanked Honey Irani for giving her the opportunity to play such a complex character. She wrote, “Here’s to my one n only villainous role. A big thank you to Honey Irani for trusting me with this role & for giving me wings to fly. More power to you. Thank you to the entire cast n crew for all the support & for all the madness.”

The actress also expressed her desire to take on more such challenging roles in the future. She mentioned, “I wish I can do more crazy roles like this now that I’m back to work.”

Preity Zinta was last seen alongside Vir Das in an episode of the American sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat” titled “The Magic Motor Inn” in 2020.
