While Abhijit Gangopadhyay's candidacy is still under wraps, the former Calcutta High Court judge traveled to Tamluk on Tuesday to have a sense of his potential "battleground".

Along with Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the Opposition, the prospective BJP candidate paid a visit to Nandigram.

Regarding questions concerning whether the BJP would field him from Tamluk, Gangopadhyay replied, "I don't have any information, but there are some rumors." I'm not allowed to speak until my name is formally revealed."

In front of the memorial to the Nandigram martyrs, he addressed BJP supporters, saying, "I shall return on March 14 and then tell a lot of things."

According to BJP officials, on March 14, Martyrs' Day, Gangopadhyay may launch his electoral campaign from Nandigram once the party announces his candidacy.

When Gangopadhyay arrived at Tamluk on Tuesday morning, he was greeted with joyful BJP supporters. Gangopadhyay was taken to the BJP office in Tamluk by BJP workers at 11 a.m., following a motorbike rally. Adhikari greeted him with a scarf. The former judge was then escorted by party officials and workers to the organizational district office by the BJP leader.

After that, Gangopadhyay went to the Devi Bargabhima temple and offered prayers there. After that, he went straight to Nandigram.
