Animal: Ranbir Kapoor's Record-Breaking Box Office Triumph in 20 Days

According to the most recent trade reports, in just 20 days after its release, Ranbir Kapoor's Animal has become the second-highest grossing Hindi film of 2023 in India, surpassing the lifetime earnings of the Sunny Deol film Gadar 2. The film brought in Rs 528.69 crore nett at the domestic box office.

The Sandeep Reddy Vanga-helmed picture comes in first place among the highest grossing Hindi films of the year, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (Rs 524.53 crore). Atlee's Jawan, which also features Shah Rukh, is the highest grossing film with a net income of Rs 643.87 crore. Gadar 2 has amassed a lifetime collection of Rs 524.80 crore nett.

Animal had a fantastic opening week, earning Rs 337.58 crore nett. It also starred Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna in significant roles. It maintained its strong performance in the second week, earning Rs 139.26 crore nett. During the third weekend, the film's success story continued as it brought in an additional Rs 35.18 crore nett.

The Ranbir-starring movie's earnings on its third Monday and Tuesday saw a sharp decline, coming in at Rs 5.75 crore nett and Rs 5.5 crore nett on Days 18 and 19, respectively. On Day 20, Animal brought in an additional Rs 5 crore nett, bringing the film's total earnings to Rs 528.69 crore nett.

Additionally, Animal has become Ranbir Kapoor's highest-grossing movie to date. Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju (2018) previously held the record with a lifetime collection of Rs 338 crore nett in India.

The main character of Animal is Ranvijay (Ranbir), a wealthy businessman's son who will stop at nothing to win his father's (Anil Kapoor) affection and respect.
