In their thrilling two-wicket triumph over former champions Sri Lanka in their Group D T20 World Cup encounter today, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain claimed a match-winning 3/22.

Bangladesh chose to bowl and held Sri Lanka to a meek 124 for 9 in 20 overs. With a fantastic 3/17, pacer Mustafizur Rahman supplemented Rishad's comeback, and Taskin Ahmed scored 2/25.


With a score of 47 from 28 balls, Sri Lanka's top scorer was opener Pathum Nissanka. This was their second straight defeat, which would make their Super Eight qualifying more difficult.

With four sixes and one four in his vital 20-ball 40, Towhid Hridoy made a major contribution to the chase, while Mahmudullah led the way with his 13-ball-16 not out. Bangladesh prevailed with one more over to go.

In Group D, South Africa, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh have two points apiece, while Nepal and Sri Lanka have not yet opened their accounts.
