In the new film "Road House" directed by Doug Liman, Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays the lead in the 1989 original, says he has always been an admirer of the late Patrick Swayze.
On Instagram, Gyllenhaal uploaded a picture of himself standing next to Swayze, who he co-starred with in "Donnie Darko". According to the actor, Swayze would have been pleased with the future movie.
"I’ve been thinking back about my time working with Patrick on Donnie Darko, and rewatching this great man in the original Road House plus so many other films," Gyllenhall said in the article.
"I have always been a fan. I still have a great deal of respect and regard for what he accomplished and the skill he has. His generosity to me in the beginning will always be with me; he didn't have to take the time, but he always did. This time, we've created a different RH, but we hope it's one he would have enjoyed seeing," Gyllenhaal said.
2009 saw Swayze's death from pancreatic cancer.
This year, Liman's adaption will be available on Prime Video. Notable actors Conor McGregor, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, and Hannah Love Lanier will also feature in important parts.
