The Beatles, a British band that disbanded more than 50 years ago, have announced the release of their final song, Now and Then, which was inspired by a demo tape that the late John Lennon recorded in the 1970s.

On November 2, Now and Then will be made accessible to the general public. Last year, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Ringo Starr used artificial intelligence (AI) to finish the song. George Harrison died in 2001, while John Lennon was shot and killed by a fan in 1980, among the other band members.

"THAT AND NOW. THE LAST BEATLES SONG, #NowAndThen, out 02.11.23. The Beatles' official account on X stated, "New expanded and mixed editions of the Red and Blue albums to be released 10.11.23."

The announcement was followed by a 34-second film that details Now and Then's origins. The original recordings of John Lennon were given to his old bandmates by his widow, Yoko Ono, who set out to record these songs. The home recording, which could not be effectively combined with the audio equipment available at the time, presented a considerable obstacle for them, nevertheless. Only this past year, using the power of state-of-the-art artificial intelligence, were McCartney and Starr able to bring Now and Then to completion.

Now and Then will be celebrated with a music video the day following its official release, as well as a 12-minute making-of documentary the day before. The song will also be released as a double A-side single with The Beatles' 1962 debut single Love Me Do, which has a unique cover created by the well-known musician Ed Ruscha.

Now and Then will also be featured in the enlarged edition of The Beatles' greatest hits albums, which are scheduled to be released on November 10 and contain 1962–1966 (also known as The Red Album) and 1967–1970 (also known as The Blue Album).
