Kashmiri Anger Over CAA Implementation: Political Fallout and Community Concerns

The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) decision made by the Center has angered Kashmiri political parties, who characterize it as an anti-Muslim attempt to divide the country again and conceal the BJP's supposed vulnerability in front of voters in the next elections.

The only state in the nation with a majority of Muslims that was divided and reduced to two Union Territories was Jammu and Kashmir. Many Kashmiris think that the government, led by the BJP, is committed to altering the region's Muslim majority.

Mehbooba Mufti, the former chief minister, urged Muslims on Tuesday to comprehend the BJP's purported strategy and avoid falling for its trap.

"BJP is still committed to the Hindu Mahasabha's two nation idea, even after partition, which occurred 77 years ago. Mehbooba wrote on X, "They have thus implemented CAA to create another partition among our people to further their agenda."

"Despite the matter still being pending in the Honorable Supreme Court, this newfound hurry in its execution is a desperate attempt to deflect attention from its overall shortcomings and incite hate speech among the populace. Call on all groups, but particularly Muslims, to avoid falling into their traps.

The declaration of the BJP's plan to exploit religion in the next polls was made a few days ahead of the election notification, according to Omar Abdullah, the former chief minister and vice-president of the National Conference.

Muslims have long been the targets of the BJP. Muslims have also been targeted out in the CAA. This is not the new politics of the BJP. It's what they've been doing. However, I find it surprising that the BJP, which asserts that it is winning 400 seats and stated that it cannot lose following the construction of Ram Mandir, may believe that their position is weak," Omar told reporters.

They are being forced to use new weapons as a result. Ahead of the elections, they offered a Ramzan gift to Muslims. We are sorry for it.

Veteran CPM member Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami claimed that the CAA went against the fundamental principles of the Indian Constitution.

"There is no discrimination based on caste, religion, or geography. In a press conference, Tarigami stated, "Citizenship is the right of every person of the country, irrespective of his creed, color, area, or background, without any interference of faith."

Mehbooba's views regarding the split were criticized by BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur, who called them deceptive.

"People are intelligent and knowledgeable enough to comprehend the rationale behind the CAA's implementation. There is no room for hateful politics in Jammu and Kashmir, according to Thakur.
