After leaving the BJP in 2022 to join Trinamul, MP Arjun Singh of Barrackpore expressed sorrow on Monday for his choice to join Mamata Banerjee's party. This was due to the fact that his name was not included in the list of 42 party candidates that Trinamul leader Abhishek Banerjee unveiled at the Brigade rally on Sunday.

"I made a mistake that was detrimental to Trinamul." At his Jagatdal home on Monday, Singh told reporters, "Despite the party's assurances that I'd give a ticket (for the Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat), I was finally denied it."

Partha Bhowmick, an MLA from Naihati and minister of irrigation from Barrackpore, was fielded by Trinamul.

Two hours prior to the list being made public, Singh, who was present at the Brigade event, claimed he found out he wouldn't be receiving a party ticket. "At first, I was taken aback. I feel pretty at ease right now. The Barrackpore MP stated, "Now, the party has to consider whether victory in the election will be possible without me," without specifying that he would run for office on a BJP ticket should one become available.

However, Singh's supporters began taking to the streets on Sunday night, urging Trinamul to reevaluate the list.

But Trinamul is attempting to hold Singh in order to prevent him from defecting to the BJP.

Many candidates, including actor-turned-politician Sayantika Bandyopadhyay, were upset that they did not receive tickets, according to a Trinamul source.
