The official X website of the franchise revealed on Thursday that The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, a new Hunger Games movie, will open in theaters in November 2026.

The fifth novel in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games series is scheduled for release in the upcoming year. The events of this prequel to the original trilogy will take place in Panem forty years after those in the recently released film The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. March 18, 2025 is when the book Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled for release.
The narrative will begin on the morning of the 50th Hunger Games, also referred to as the Second Quarter Quell. It will chronicle the events in the life of Woody Harrelson's character, Haymitch Abernathy, as portrayed in the movies. In the 74th Hunger Games, Josh Hutcherson's Peeta and Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss received mentoring from Haymitch.
