Nolan Hails Snyder's Cinematic Power: 'I see his influence everywhere,' says 'Oppenheimer' director.
Praising 'Rebel Moon' and 'Watchmen,' Nolan credits Snyder for moving audiences with "fantastical, heightened reality.
According to Christopher Nolan, Zack Snyder, whose film "Rebel Moon: Part One - a Child of Fire" is currently topping Netflix's charts, has a talent for creating cinema that inspires and moves audiences.
On Snyder's "Man of Steel," Nolan produced the film, and the two directors have stayed close ever since.
"There’s no superhero science-fiction film coming out these days where I don’t see some influence of Zack,” Nolan told The Atlantic in a piece on "The Watchmen" director.
"You can see and feel Zack Snyder's passion for the possibilities of film when you watch one of his films. The "Oppenheimer" director continued, "It has the potential to be fantastical, to be heightened in its reality, but to move and excite you."
Despite creating rifts among comic book fans, Nolan thinks "Watchmen" was ahead of its time.
It subverts the superhero team concept so brilliantly that it wasn't even a thing in movies at the time. "Its release after Avengers would have been fascinating," he remarked.
Even though it has become one of the most watched movies on the streamer, "Rebel Moon" has generally gotten mixed reviews. On April 19, the movie's second chapter will be available on Netflix.
