Rahul Gandhi's Critique of Modi's Handling of Manipur and BJP's Ideology

In addition to saying that the RSS-BJP ideology does not allow for cultural and religious diversity, Rahul Gandhi may have touched a sore nerve when he called Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to avoid the conflict-torn state of Manipur "shameful."

During a six-month campaign trail in Mizoram, which borders Manipur, the former president of the Congress declared, "I was astounded by what I witnessed in Manipur." The BJP has demolished the concept of Manipur. There are now two states instead of only one. Even if there have been murders, sexual assaults against women, and deaths of infants, the prime minister doesn't think it's necessary to go there.

"It's amazing to me that the Prime Minister and the government of India are so interested in what is happening in Israel, but not at all interested in what is happening in Manipur," Rahul, who visited relief camps in Manipur during the height of the crisis, added. You will discover story after story and talk show after chat show regarding the events in the Middle East if you check in our national media. However, no one discusses the situation in Manipur or the suffering and agony that has been brought about there in the national media.

"I just don't understand why the prime minister hasn't visited," he continued. The fact that our union's leader has not visited the state of Manipur in light of the events there is cause for shame. Furthermore, Manipur is only a symptom of the issue.

The Congress has been meticulously trying to explain to the public why Prime Minister Modi's actions haven't been consistent with those of a prime minister throughout this election season, which will set the stage for the last struggle of 2024. Modi's approach to Manipur has been described as callous and careless, yet his penchant to make attractive promises during election campaigns and then forget about keeping them has been identified as a personality flaw.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge spent a significant portion of his speech explaining to the public during a public rally in Rajasthan how Modi used deceit and polarizing tactics to win elections. "The Prime Minister doesn't honor his own words," he declared. He is always running from state to state to win elections; he is in campaign mode. However, he falls short of his expectations. People need to be able to discriminate between genuine words and empty speech. You must decide between jhooth bolne wali Sarkar and kaam karne wali Sarkar.

Kharge recalled that the Prime Minister "doesn't respect even people's mandate," allowing crony capitalists to plunder the nation, using religious symbols to rally support, and promoting communal politics. He uses coercive politics and money power to overthrow our governments.

It is quite evident that Rahul and Kharge are collaborating to destroy Modi's meticulously constructed image prior to the upcoming general election.

Rahul concurred that it is impossible to see the ethnic strife in Manipur in a vacuum. The same issue manifests itself in smaller form around the country. Tribals and Dalits are among the minority groups whose members are experiencing discomfort. The Indian people are subjected to persecution, which I see as an assault on the whole concept of India. Thus, the events in Manipur are an assault not only on the Manipureans themselves but also on the concept of India.

Before delivering his address, he strolled two kilometers through the streets of Aizawl, where thousands of people pressed forward to see him, bringing back memories of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. "It was the responsibility of every Indian to preserve every religion, culture, language, and tradition of this nation, and that was the purpose of the Bharat Jodo Yatra," he declared.

He declared, "Vote for the Congress that treats everybody with respect, that provides not empty words, but a vision for the state of Mizoram," to raucous applause from the crowd. If I may leave you with just one thing, it is this: your culture, religion, and traditions will all be upheld. It is the most significant thing to us. Because India will also be attacked and destroyed if Mizo culture, Mizo custom, language, or religion are all attacked and destroyed.

Rahul remarked, "We love your diversity, we love your perspective, we love your way of looking at the world and at life," insisting he arrived in the little state with humility and respect. It is the most precious thing we own. Since it is the center of both Mizoram and India, it is far more significant than these structures and other items combined. And because I am aware of the countless years of wisdom ingrained in your tradition and history, I have come here to learn from and comprehend you.

He said, "Today we walked 2km, but the message I wanted to give was the same," recalling the Bharat Jodo Yatra. the notion of a united India—a country that values diversity, tolerance, learning from different cultures, languages, and ideas—and that embraces itself in its entirety. And the BJP is attempting to undermine that notion.

"They (RSS-BJP) attack different communities, different religions, and different languages; they spread hatred, violence, and ignorance throughout the nation," Rahul claimed. Furthermore, this runs directly against to the notion of India that we are accustomed to and hold dear—one that values, cherishes, and defends all people equally.

With reference to the increasing drug problem in Mizoram, he added that the Prime Minister was only trying to enrich Adani, while the Congress, through its welfare schemes, had established a strong social security system in states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka. He claimed that Modi's economic strategy was limited to helping a single corporate entity, which was an absurd notion that harmed the nation's small companies and job prospects.
