Ravi Bishnoi's Quest for T20 World Cup Berth: Consistency and Challenges
Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi has done a great job of holding down a spot in the side during the Twenty22 T20 World Cup and the Twenty20 Internationals that India have played since then. However, only time will tell if he is in a good enough position to secure a spot in the June showcase event for the shortest format.

Following the ODI World Cup last year, Bishnoi was a part of India's eight home T20Is. Based on statistical data, the 23-year-old appears to have performed admirably when it comes to his leg-spin bowling. He claimed 18 wickets in the 11 Twenty20 Internationals played last year, including a really good performance against a somewhat weak Australia team. In November and December of last year, right after the ODI World Cup, he concluded with nine scalps from five matches in India's 4-1 series victory.

The addition of a leg-spinner will undoubtedly increase the variety in India's spin department as the T20 World Cup, which takes place in the Caribbean and the United States starting on June 4, approaches. Slow bowlers will find turn and buy on many of the tournament's surfaces, and Bishnoi has an excellent record in the Caribbean, having taken eight wickets in four Twenty20 Internationals so far.

For him, though, the path isn't as straightforward. One of the players the selectors have set their sights on is Bishnoi. However, too are Washington Sundar, an off-spinner all-rounder, and Yuzvendra Chahal, a seasoned leg-spinner.

"Anyway, there's already the well-known Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel." Thus, perhaps the team could include one extra spinner. In order to keep his fitness, Bishnoi must defeat both Chahal and Sundar in this IPL.

His issue is that he occasionally leaks runs because he finds it difficult to manage his speed. That was evident in the January Afghanistan T20Is, as he concluded with an economy rate exceeding 10. In any case, the first seven or eight IPL games will demonstrate his status, a BCCI official stated to The Telegraph on Wednesday.

Since making several runs in a T20 competition in Udaipur this month, Bishnoi has also started to focus a little more on his batting. "In that event, he scored 93, 55, and about 40. Bishnoi's personal coach Pradyot Singh Rathore stated, "The way he is batting, he should be able to contribute at least some 15-20 runs for his team (Lucknow Super Giants)."

Bishnoi has been focusing on both the traditional leg-spinner and the off-and-middle-stump line when it comes to the ball. He moves quickly through the air. He won't be too easy to get away if he can pitch it on off and middle, Pradyot continued.
