The popular celebrity chat show "Koffee with Karan" has announced that its current season will not feature superstar friend Shah Rukh Khan. This announcement was made by filmmaker Karan Johar on Monday.

Although he was a frequent participant in the chat show, Shah Rukh has not appeared in the last few seasons. Johar stated that he will speak with Shah Rukh when the "time is right" and that as a friend, he respects and understands his decision.

"I simply believe that Shah Rukh Khan is the megastar who has earned the right to speak when the time comes. I should be understood because I have been his closest friend and family out of all of us. The director remarked, "I have that leverage because he is family to me," during a "Koffee With Karan" event.

"He has never refused me when I ask or request something from him. I didn't ask because I knew he didn't want to be in a precarious situation where he had to turn me down. I am selective about what I request," he remarked.

Johar, who has worked with Shah Rukh Khan on a number of movies, including "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai," "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham," and "My Name is Khan," is presently hosting the eighth season of the well-liked program on Disney+Hotstar.

Guests this season included Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, Rani Mukherji and Kajol, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor.

According to Johar, he is also awaiting the ideal moment to invite the superstar to appear on the show.

Aside from press conferences for promotion and the #AskSRK sessions on social media, SRK has not participated in any media interviews over the past four years.

Johar, 51, said that he considered Shah Rukh to be an elder brother and that he is a "extraordinary" orator.

"I'll ask him when the time is appropriate. I have faith that he will speak when the time comes. Shah Rukh Khan is the best at giving interviews, so when he does, it will be amazing. He is the best speaker there is," he remarked.

"He is simply the word wizard whether he speaks on a national or international platform. Not only does he look like the emperor when he's on screen, but off. Because of the man Shah Rukh has been to us off-screen, there is a great deal of affection for him among all of us, according to Johar, who claims to speak with the actor every other day. "I have 'Koffee with Karan' with him every night, so I don't miss him that way. Shah Rukh meets with Gauri and his family almost every evening. I'm conversing like that. He continued, "I know you might miss him, but I'm satisfied because he plays such a significant role in my life.

Speaking about the program that frequently puts celebrities and Johar in awkward situations due to remarks made during the rapid fire round, the director revealed that they had previously considered cutting out the particular segment.

He continued by saying that over time, the guests have become more reserved about what they say on the show.

The unfortunate thing is that people are far more concerned now than they were in the first few seasons, which is why we kept returning to the task of replacing rapid fire. No one desires a PR catastrophe. In order to succeed, you must ensure that you alter the rapid fire language because everyone is so cautious, according to Johar.

There have been occasions when people have responded wildly, with the majority of responses being both overrated and underrated. How can I expect them when I won't be answering those today? We've all created a delicate environment. We are far more sensitive now that we use social media. I don't want any of that," he continued. "So, everyone is sensitive about what they are saying, what they are expected to say, fan clubs get angry."

When asked if he had ever removed anything that might have "repercussions and ramifications" from a scene in one of the "Koffee with Karan" episodes, the director said he had never done so.

"I've held onto things that I may not have in hindsight. We stop the pointless joking. However, there are things that we must never stop doing. Everything I've said is there, and I've never asked to have anything too personal or opinion-based taken down because those things have consequences and ramifications. Proof of that exists," he stated.
