Christopher Nolan is going to receive the BFI Fellowship, the British Film Institute's highest honor, in honor of his "enormous contribution to cinema as one of the world's most successful filmmakers".

The "Oppenheimer" director was commended for "continually pushing the limits of what large-scale filmmaking can be while retaining a reverence for the history of the medium and the primacy of cinemagoing" in the announcement made on Monday.

On February 14, 2024, in London, at the BFI Chair's Dinner, which will be hosted by BFI Chair Tim Richards, Nolan will receive the BFI Fellowship.

Next up is a special preview of director Christopher Nolan's 2020 sci-fi picture "Tenet" at the BFI IMAX, and on February 15th, there will be a "In Conversation" event with Nolan at the BFI Southbank theater.

Oscar winner Christopher Nolan, whose credits include the films "Memento," "The Batman" series, "Inception," and "Dunkirk," expressed his excitement and honor at receiving a BFI Fellowship from a group that is committed to protecting the legacy of film as well as its future. Richards expressed his happiness at being able to award Nolan a BFI Fellowship.

"One of the greatest directors of the twenty-first century, Christopher Nolan has made wildly successful films that have brought in over $6 billion in box office revenue worldwide. All of his films are intended to be viewed on a large screen, challenging and entertaining viewers worldwide. He praised the director for his efforts to promote cinema preservation and remarked, "Christopher's dedication and support of the film industry is legendary."

With Cillian Murphy playing the title physicist, Christopher Nolan's most recent film "Oppenheimer" has become a global box office and critical triumph, taking in almost one billion dollars.

Nolan will be joining the elite group of former BFI Fellows, which includes notable figures like David Lean, Satyajit Ray, Bette Davis, Akira Kurosawa, and Ousmane Sembène. Michael Powell, Emeric Pressburger, Orson Welles, Derek Jarman, Martin Scorsese, Tilda Swinton, Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, and Spike Lee are among the people who have worked with Elizabeth Taylor.
