Exhibitors and industry insiders report that the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif film "Tiger 3" has gotten an incredible response from the public, with over 60,000 tickets sold on the first day of advance sales.

November 12, the day of Diwali, sees the release of the Maneesh Sharma-directed Yash Raj Films project, which is a follow-up to the 2017 movie "Tiger Zinda Hai". The movie's advance ticket sales began on Sunday.

"Even though the film opens on Diwali, we have already sold 100,000 advance tickets, of which 60,000 were sold on the first day. The film has been able to draw attention from viewers outside of the Hindi belt thanks to Salman Khan's enormous national fan base and its dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu, according to a statement from Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Executive Director, PVR INOX Limited.

Because of the long weekend, Bijli thinks the movie might surpass the Rs 200 crore mark in its first week of release. Although advance sales for "Tiger 3" are encouraging, renowned trade analyst Taran Adarsh stated that due to the timing of the release, it wouldn't be appropriate to compare these numbers to the tremendous response that Shah Rukh Khan's films "Pathaan" and "Jawan" received.

"The advance booking for the film received a great reception upon its release. Over 63,000 tickets were sold in the National chain, which includes PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis, up until this morning. It cannot be compared to "Jawan" or "Pathaan," Adarsh stated to PTI.

People may choose to go on Monday or may choose to book a spot or reservation in advance for this film, which has its premiere on Sunday, Diwali, when Laxmi puja takes place in the evening. We will learn more when the release is closer. Right now, it is a little early. It's great as of right now," he remarked.

"Tiger 3" has demonstrated "decent" advance sales, according to trade analyst Atul Mohan, and could earn between Rs 35 and Rs 40 crore.

"It's a decent advance booking. As the release date approaches, ticket sales will increase. We also need to take into account that not many people will be attending movie theaters to see the film because it is being released on Sunday, which is Diwali day.

"But if the movie is getting positive reviews, it will perform incredibly well starting on Monday. Given that it's the holiday season, the movie might continue to do well after opening at around Rs 35–40 crore, Mohan told PTI.

Because Salman Khan's prior films haven't performed well at the box office, Mohan stated that the excitement surrounding the film's release might not be as great as that surrounding Shah Rukh Khan's previous releases, "Pathaan" and "Jawan".

Shah Rukh Khan gained notoriety once more following the release of "Pathaan," and the film's success influenced his subsequent release, "Jawan." However, Salman Khan's most recent films did poorly at the box office," he stated.

"Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" was Salman's most recent theatrical release, which came out in April of this year.

"A film today needs to make between Rs 200 and Rs 300 crores at the box office; a Rs 100 crore film is not enough. Because he is Salman Khan and the Tiger franchise is very successful, there is pressure," he continued.

According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala of Chennai, "Tiger" is not getting much traction in southern India because the film is not set there and opens on a Sunday.

Bala reports that the Diwali releases of several regional films are highly anticipated in South India. These include “Japan” (Tamil), which stars actor Karthi; “Jigarthanda Double X” (Tamil), “Raid” starring Vikram Prabhu and Sri Divya; “Bandra” (Malayalam), starring actor Dileep; and “Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side B” (Kannada), directed by Karthik Subbaraj.

The two most popular movies in the South are Jigarthanda Double X and Japan. Advance reservations for "Tiger 3" are slow in the South because we have our own upcoming Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films. Instead of the Hindi releases that take place on Sunday, people in this area are looking at Friday's south Diwali releases; perhaps they will start considering ticket purchases closer to the weekend," he said.

Though "Tiger 3" might do well in cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai, the trade analyst thinks that good word-of-mouth is essential for the film to gain traction throughout south India.
