12-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Commits Suicide in Chhattisgarh After Accusing Teacher of Harassment

According to authorities on Thursday, a 12-year-old girl in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district reportedly killed herself by hanging herself at home after accusing a female teacher at her school of harassing her.

A suicide note discovered in the victim's chamber led to the accused teacher's arrest on Wednesday, according to Ambikapur City Superintendent of Police Smruthik Rajnala.

He stated that late on Tuesday night, a private school girl in Class 6 was discovered hanging from the ceiling in a room of her home in the Darripara neighborhood inside the boundaries of the Manipur police station.

He said that the girl had accused the instructor of tormenting her in a suicide note that was discovered in the room.

"A post-mortem was performed and evidence was gathered from the scene by a forensic team. Statements from the girl's parents, other classmates, and educators were documented. An specialist in handwriting studied the suicide letter," he stated.

The official said that more inquiry was in progress and that the instructor was charged under Indian Penal Code section 305, which deals with abetment of a child's suicide, based on the findings of the investigation.

The child claimed in her English suicide note dated February 6 that the instructor had stolen her and her two companions' ID cards.

"She is dangerous, according to my friends, and she'll call your parents and take you to a headmistress." She stated, "I was scared and decided to kill myself," criticizing the instructor for taking such a drastic measure.

The girl also asked to be spared punishment along with her classmates.

The father of the deceased, a government official, told reporters that when he was visiting Raipur for two days, around 630 p.m. on Tuesday, his daughter chatted with him via a video call but withheld information from him.

He stated, "She wrote on the suicide note, please don't punish my friends," and claimed that the children had been tormented by the school's professors. Additionally, he said that when he confronted the nursery instructor about improper instruction, the other teacher physically and verbally assaulted his daughter.

"My daughter stopped telling me about the harassment as whenever parents visit school to speak to teachers over some issues, the next day teachers take revenge and torture students," he said.

"Please, spare the pupils. They are not guilty," he said.
