Arvind Kejriwal Released: Bail Granted in Liquor Policy Case

On Friday night, a Delhi court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the AAP and the chief minister of Delhi, in the liquor policy case.

Since being detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March, just after the Lok Sabha elections were announced, Kejriwal has been imprisoned for what he claimed to be a political retaliation by the BJP.

Kejriwal was given bail at Rouse Avenue Court on a ₹1 lakh bond by a vacation bench. The Supreme Court had already given him temporary bail so that he could run in the general election.

According to PTI, Special Judge Nyay Bindu turned down the ED's request to halt the bail judgment for 48 hours so that the agency may file an appeal with a higher court. She gave Kejriwal instructions to assist the investigators and show up in court if needed.

Following his release, Kejriwal is anticipated to assess the party's standing in the Lok Sabha elections and quickly organize for the Haryana and Delhi Assembly elections.
