The BCCI has suggested doing away with the toss in the CK Nayudu Trophy, giving the visiting team the option of bowling or batting.

In line with the demands made by captains last season, board secretary Jay Shah submitted a number of proposals for approval to the Apex Council. Among them is the inclusion of large intervals between Ranji matches.

"The CK Nayudu Trophy matches will have the toss removed. Rather, the visiting side will be entitled to decide whether to bowl or bat first "Jay Shah stated in a memo that was sent with the members of the Apex Council.

"A new point system will be used for the CK Nayudu Trophy with the goal of encouraging balanced performances. In addition to giving points for leading or winning the first innings, this also includes giving points for bowling and hitting performances in the first innings.

"A review will be conducted at the end of the season to assess the effectiveness of the new points system, with a decision on whether to implement it in the Ranji Trophy for the following season," the note stated.

Four teams chosen by the national selectors will compete in the Duleep Trophy to open the domestic season.

"Following this, the Irani Cup and then the Ranji Trophy will commence with the first five league matches, followed by the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and concluding with the remaining two league matches of the Ranji Trophy and knockout stages."
