Hollywood celebrities including Jim Carrey, Sharon Stone, Pierce Brosnan, and Johnny Depp have embraced painting as a new way to express themselves. Their preferred media includes acrylic, oil paint, and watercolor. Here is a look at five such superstars who have looked to the paintbrush and the color palette in the glittering town to help them release their creative energy.

Pierce Brosnan is not just a pandemic hobbyist painter. The actor started painting as a young child in Ireland, but after becoming well-known worldwide for the TV series Remington Steele (1982–1987), he put his paintbrushes and canvases away in a cupboard. It was not until his first wife, Cassandra Harris, was afflicted with ovarian cancer that he came back to painting. The James Bond actor has created more than 300 pieces of art, which he most recently showed to fans at the So Many Dreams exhibition in Los Angeles.

Sharon Stone believes that painting is all about communicating with color, which is why she spends nearly 17 hours a day in her studio. The actress from Basic Instinct studied painting with her aunt and briefly attended Edinboro University before pursuing a career in Hollywood. She has just devoted herself entirely to painting, and she is having an exhibition called My Eternal Failure.

Johnny Depp paints with aplomb when he's not brandishing his sword as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean. He likes bright colors that are evocative of street art and modern pop art. In 2022, he held his first official art auction at London's Castle Fine Art gallery, including four portraits: Bob Dylan, Elizabeth Taylor, Al Pacino, and Keith Richards. "I've always expressed my emotions and thought about the people that are most important to me via art. My paintings are based on my life, but I confined and kept them to myself. In a recent remark, the actor added, "No one should ever limit themselves."

For more than fifty years, Hollywood legend Val Kilmer has been perfecting his craft in every media. The actor realized his voice was irreparably ruined in 2015 after receiving a throat cancer diagnosis. But something always gets given when something gets taken. My creative juices were overflowing and gushing out of me, and I had very little voice. I once again began to create, drawing and writing everything I could. On his official website, he remarked, "I felt the art healing me." In addition to being featured on the blockchain, Kilmer's abstract prints and other artwork are on show in shows around the United States. The actor from Top Gun entered the NFT scene with Kamp Kilmer and his business partner Ali Alborzi. NFTs are described as "a sacred space for creative alike to come and explore NFTs and many other forms of art."

Jim Carrey is a multifaceted person. While most of us grew up picturing him as the Grinch, some of us knew him from The Truman Show or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Carrey spends his time in his New York art studio when he's not working on performing roles. In his later years, his works—caricatures, political drawings, abstract prints, figurines, and sculptures—have proven to be more emotionally charged. On his website, he stated, "So-called reality is energy and color creating forms that rise out of nothing."
