BJP Learns Lesson from 2021 Assembly Polls, to No Longer Accept "Tainted" or Senior Trinamul Politicians

Chief of the BJP state unit Sukanta Majumdar declared on Monday that his party had learned its lesson from the 2021 Assembly polls, in which a large number of Mamata Banerjee's party officials defected to the saffron side. As a result, the party was no longer willing to accept "tainted" or senior Trinamul politicians.

"We have no intention of accepting MLAs or higher-ranking Trinamul leaders into our party. We would prefer to accept lower-class Trinamul laborers who are committed to improving Bengal. In response to a query about whether Trinamul leaders had begun approaching them to join his party, Majumdar said, "We also welcome CPM workers who have already understood that their leader (CPM general secretary) Sitaram Yechury, Mamata Banerjee, and (the Congress's) Rahul Gandhi are on the same page under the banner of the so-called INDIA alliance." A nationwide coalition of anti-BJP parties is called the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.

"Taking corrupt Trinamul Congress leaders does not produce any results. We burned our hands the last time, and we took a lesson from it. In the near future, we are not prepared to accept the polluted," Majumdar continued.

Numerous Trinamul leaders and MLAs, including Suvendu Adhikari, the head of the Opposition now in office, switched to the BJP prior to the 2021 Assembly elections.

According to a source, more than thirty Trinamul MLAs and leaders switched to the BJP ahead of the Assembly election, and 13 of them were given tickets by the party. Following its overwhelming triumph, many people went back to Trinamul.

According to a source, Majumdar's remark was crucial since it demonstrated that the BJP had erred in trying to develop inorganically at an exponential rate prior to the 2021 elections.

Trinamul did not let Majumdar's remark pass without responding, pointing out that the BJP leader need to first remove Adhikari, who is charged with the Saradha and Narada scandals.

"Suvendu Adhikari should be expelled from his party first, as he has been charged with accepting payments in public." The BJP was the one who had demanded a CBI investigation and publicly displayed a video of Adhikari accepting money. The general secretary of Trinamul state Kunal Ghosh stated, "He (Majumdar) should take action against him (Adhikari), the one who is always seated beside him, before making lofty claims." “After witnessing the BJP's disaster in the 2021 elections, nobody is eager to join it. Everyone now knows that the BJP is doomed in Bengal," he continued.
