Hooghly TMC Feud Escalates: MLA's Office Vandalized, Accusations Fly
The vandalised Trinamul office of MLA Manoranjan Byapari in Hooghly’s Jirat on Thursday.

After "unknown" individuals vandalized the party's Balagarh MLA Manoranjan Byapari's office late on Wednesday night, the internal strife within the Trinamul Congress in the Hooghly district hit a new low.

Although Byapari held Hooghly zilla parishad member Runa Khatun and her husband Arijit Das accountable for the assault, the pair filed a police case accusing the MLA of damaging their reputation.

"At last, my fear has materialized. In Hooghly's Jirat, my office was assaulted by Runa Khatun and her husband, Arijit Das. They smashed the office door and the window glass. Byapari said on social media, "They also threw away party flags and photos of Didi (Mamata Banerjee)."

Byapari had revealed in public on Wednesday that he had been the target of a life-threatening assault and that Khatun and her gang were planning an attack on him. "Last night, I was in Kolkata." If they had found me in Balagarh last night, I would have been murdered," he said.

Khatun denied Byapari's accusations, saying, "The MLA is the one who started hurling mud at me." He has been leveling unfounded accusations on my spouse and myself.

To yet, Byapari has not reported the assault on his office to the police.

"Unknown" individuals assaulted the office, according to the police.
