“Didi’s Love Is Only for Mafia Looting Bengal”: Yogi Adityanath’s Scathing Remarks

Lucknow, May 1, 2024: In a fiery address during his first jan sabhas in West Bengal this election season, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath minced no words. His target? None other than West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Yogi Adityanath accused her of having a soft spot only for the mafia, while the state of Bengal grapples with turmoil and unrest.

The Allegations:

  • Yogi Adityanath questioned the recent riots in Bengal during Ram Navmi and Baisakhi. He wondered why the state government had not taken decisive action against the perpetrators.
  • Drawing a stark contrast, he highlighted his own track record in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Under his seven-year rule, UP had witnessed no riots or curfews. Festivals like Ram Navmi and Durga Puja were celebrated peacefully across the state.
  • The secret to this stability, according to Yogi Adityanath, was his government’s strict action against criminals. He boldly declared, “If these rioters acted like this in UP, I would have hanged them upside down. We would have dealt with them in such a way that seven generations would have forgotten how to riot.”

Didi’s Love for the Mafia:

  • In Birbhum and Asansol, Yogi Adityanath took direct aim at Mamata Banerjee. He quipped, “Yahan ki Didi ki mamata to kewal yahan un mafion ke saath hein to Bengal to raund rahe hein, jo Bengal ke saanme sankat paida kar rahe hein…hum in dangaiyon ki sampatti zabt kar ke gareebon mein baant dete” (Didi’s love is only for those mafia who are trampling on Bengal and creating trouble for the state…we would have confiscated the properties of these rioters and distributed them among the poor).
  • The CM lamented the crushing of Bengal’s rich culture and traditions. He reminded the audience that this was the same state that gave India both the national song and the national anthem.

The Call for Change:

  • Yogi Adityanath urged the people of Bengal to consider adopting the UP model of development. He emphasized that UP had transformed over the years, with no riots, curfews, or anarchy. Girls, traders, and every citizen had equal access to welfare schemes.
  • “Why is Bengal deprived of it?” he asked. “There is a need for Bengal to embrace UP’s development model.”

As the political battle rages on, the people of Bengal must decide whether they want to follow the path of stability and progress set by UP. The upcoming elections will determine the fate of the state and its people.
