The first glimpses of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, the anime prequel to J.R.R. Tolkien's epic novel series, were released by Warner Bros. India on Wednesday.

Warner Bros. India stated, "Meet the heroine and villain of 'The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,' the anime prequel about an important battle in the history of Rohan," with stills showing the main cast members of the prospective anime movie.

Helm Hammerhand, the ninth King of Rohan, ruled during the Third Age, and his life is told in the anime film. The Dunlendings attempted to steal the Rohan throne, challenging his power.

Hèra, Helm's daughter, is shown in the first image brandishing her sword and aiming it at an unidentified foe. The second still features Wulf, the enemy of the movie, leading the troops of the Dunlendings on Helm's kingdom.

According to IMDb, the official synopsis of the movie is "The untold story behind Helm's Deep, hundreds of years before the fateful war, telling the life and bloodsoaked times of its founder, Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan."

Andy Serkis, star of The Lord of the Rings, just debuted the opening 20 minutes of the movie at the Annecy Film Festival.

The anime film, which is directed by Kenji Kamiyama, known for Ghost in the Shell, draws inspiration from both Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie adaptations and Tolkien's literature.

Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by Press Time staff and has been published from a syndicated feed.
