Oscar-winning The streaming service Apple TV+ has announced that Gary Oldman's espionage thriller "Slow Horses" has been renewed for a fifth season.

Based on novelist Mick Herron's "Slough House" books, Oldman will reprise his role as the irascible spy Jackson Lamb in the darkly hilarious series. Will Smith has adapted it for television.

The comedy centers on a dysfunctional group of British intelligence officers known as Slow Horses who have been sent to Slough House for a variety of reasons that have ended their careers.

Christopher Chung plays Roddy Ho, Jack Lowden plays River Cartwright, and Kristin Scott Thomas plays Diana Taverner.

According to a press release from Apple TV+, the fifth season of the show will be based on the fifth book in Herron's series, "London Rules."

The gorgeous new girlfriend of resident IT genius Roddy Ho raises suspicions among everyone, but when a string of increasingly strange incidents happens around the city, it's up to the Slow Horses to figure out how it's all related. The See-Saw Films-produced series "Slow Horses" debuted in April 2022 with its first season and debuted in December 2022 with its second. The last episode of its third season aired on December 27, 2023, and the fourth season is scheduled to premiere later this year.

Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens, and Graham Yost are the executive producers of the series.
