Indian Cricketers Pay Tribute to Former Captain Dattajirao Gaekwad
'Team India will be wearing black arm bands in memory of Dattajirao Gaekwad, former India captain and India's oldest Test cricketer who passed away recently,' the BCCI said in a statement

In remembrance of former captain Dattajirao Gaekwad, Indian players donned black armbands on Saturday during the third day of the current third Test match against England.

Dattajirao, who represented India in 11 Test matches from 1951 to 1962, passed away on February 13 after a 12-day hospital stay.

He was the oldest surviving Test cricketer from India, at ninety-five.

Aunshuman Gaekwad, a former Indian batter and coach, was born to Dattajirao.

The BCCI released a statement just before the third day of play at the Niranjan Shah Stadium. "Team India will be wearing black arm bands in memory of Dattajirao Gaekwad, former India captain and India's oldest Test cricketer who passed away recently," the statement said.

Dattajirao, a right-handed batsman with the ability to bowl both leg-break and medium pace, led India on their 1959 tour of England as captain.
