Jawan Makes History, Nabs Best International Feature Film Nomination at 2024 ASTRA Awards
Shah Rukh Khan Starrer Becomes First Indian Film to Receive Nomination, Competes Against Hollywood Blockbusters
According to the Hollywood Creative Alliance (HCA), formerly known as the Hollywood Critics Association, Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is the only Indian film to receive a nomination for Best International Feature Film at the 2024 ASTRA Awards. This announcement was made on Thursday.
A wide range of hit movies from many genres are nominated for ASTRA Awards, including international hits like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killer of the Flower Moon, John Wick, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Cinematic masterpieces like The Taste of Things (France), The Teacher's Lounge (Germany), Society of the Snow (Spain), Anatomy of a Fall (France), Concrete Utopia (South Korea), Fallen Leaves (Finland), Perfect Days (Japan), Radical (Mexico), and The Zone of Interest (United Kingdom) will compete against Jawan.
HCA is a non-profit organisation with a membership that is inclusive and diverse, comprising journalists, content creators, industry professionals, creatives, and critics.
This honor comes after S.S. Rajamouli's phenomenal Telugu film RRR won five awards at the 2023 HCA Film Awards, including Best International Film, Best Action Film, Best Song, and HCA Spotlight.

The action-drama Jawan, directed by Atlee and starring Shah Rukh alongside Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Deepika Padukone, and others, is the highest grossing movie from India in 2023. In the movie, Sanjay Dutt has a brief cameo.
The City Market Social House in Los Angeles will host the ASTRA Awards on January 6, 2024.
