England Clinical in Series-Leveling Win over West Indies
Man of the Match Sam Curran successfully appeals for Shimron Hetmyer’s dismissal in the second ODI between England and the West Indies in Antigua on Wednesday.

In the second One-Day International, England produced a clinical display to defeat the West Indies by six wickets and level the three-match series. Sam Curran took 3/33 and Will Jacks hit 73.

In an otherwise low-scoring match (compared to the series opener, which saw 651 runs scored), Jacks' second half-century in the fifty-second over assisted England in reaching the 203-run target in the 33rd over.

At the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, England welcomed the Windies and quickly bowled the home team out for 202 runs in 40 overs. Curran bowled with a left-arm seam that rocked.

the top order by dismissing Keacy Carty and Brandon King, and then within seven overs, Shimron Hetmyer was out of the game.

After seven overs, the hosts were down 23/4. Shai Hope attempted to salvage the innings with Sherfane Rutherford, who scored 63, in a partnership of 129 runs at the fifth wicket. After scoring a match-winning 109 not out in the first ODI, which the hosts won by four wickets, Hope (68) led the Windies in scoring once more.

In an effort to boost an innings that faltered a bit in the middle, Hope struck his 68 at a run-a-ball and reached his 25th ODI half-century off 44 balls. Rutherford needed 71 balls to score his first fifty.

Jacks then laid a firm foundation for the England innings. In a 50-run partnership for the first wicket, he scored his half-century in 43 balls with Phil Salt (21). With the score at 116 in the twentieth over, he was the fourth England wicket to fall.

With 17.1 overs remaining, Harry Brook (43 not out) and captain Jos Buttler (58 not out) took over and led England to victory. After his teammate Hope achieved the feat in the first ODI, Buttler, then 36, reached 5,000 career runs in ODIs.
