Jongole Mitin Mashi: A Remarkable Thriller That Breaks Gender Norms and Highlights the Importance of Wildlife Conservation

Even when written by women and featuring female detectives, the detective fiction genre is fundamentally "masculine," and by the 1960s it had stabilized, if not completely achieved, perfection. — Marty Roth, Reading Genre in Classic Detective Fiction, Foul and Fair Play (1995).

Thus, Mitin Mashi was formed by Suchitra Bhattacharya. One of the biggest Puja releases of 2023 is the newest film adaptation of Suchitra Bhattacharya's immensely popular novel, Sarandaye Shoitan, now known as Jongole Mitin Mashi. In the movie, the well-known investigator investigates an ivory trafficking and elephant poaching case while on holiday in the Saranda forests.

Unfortunately, habitat destruction and poaching are causing the elephant population in the wild to decline dramatically. Officers-in-charge, public officials, and animal campaigners have been rendered completely dumbfounded by this startling rate. This has an impact on the nation's ecology as well as the tourism industry.

Breaking gender norms is a remarkable ability of director Arindam Sil. Stories by Mitin Mashi combine the commonplace with the unusual, the commonplace and the extraordinary. The third eye symbolizes intuition and the capacity to see beyond the obvious. By concentrating on this chakra, one can better visualize and comprehend the world that lies beyond distractions and desires. Thus, Mitin's third eye distinctly outlines the purpose and vision of a detective.

After Arindam takes a very intriguing turn on a family vacation, the protagonist lets her work ethic get the better of her. A wonderful thriller set in a vacation spot with a jungle, waterfall, and deer usually makes me think of Ray. However, this location also strongly reminds me of Buddhadeb Guha and Rijuda, two places I'm sure Arindam will discover soon. His knowledge of ecology, his work in the Sundarban, and his research on wildlife have redefined his profession and his passion for the natural world in a special way.

Being an actor requires you to be willing to go against the grain and pursue novel goals. Unavoidably, Koel Mallick is one of them. Being well-aware of your identity and abilities fortifies your mental, emotional, and even physical toughness. As a result, you will perform admirably when put to the test in front of others, which will greatly contribute to your ability to excel at work. Being confident helps you refine your acting career since it eliminates uncertainty and worry.

Koel has consistently demonstrated this, particularly with Mitin Mashi, which is practically a trademark of Koel Mallick. Koel is prepared to take on the pressure of managing the box office in addition to the on-screen struggle. She was aware that she would need to fight both battles equally, charismatically and with confidence, this time. She is a larger-than-life Bangali woman investigator in every scene, both psychologically and physically honest.

Arijit Dutta has magnetism on screen in his role as Purushottam Singh. A fantastic team is made up of Lekha Chatterjee, Ashim Roychoudhury, Kamalika, and Subhrajit Dutta. Undoubtedly, Lekha is among the most promising actors of our day. Subhrajit has portrayed his character with sensitivity, making him an actor to constantly look out for. For being as adorable as Abani, Ashim deserves a hearty round of applause. Joydip Kundu and Samiul Alam deserve special recognition. The majestic symphony of Bickram Ghosh and Subha Mudgal offers Bengali cinema an entirely new auditory experience.

A compelling thriller must have three essential components: suspense, action, and darkness. As usual, Padmanabha Dasgupta is a skilled screenwriter and has mastered the art of the thriller. As a DoP, Anirban Chatterjee excels. As an editor, I feel Sanglaap Bhowmick adheres fervently to Esther Freud's maxim that "editing is everything." Cutter till you run out of cuts. A hearty round of applause is also due to Jongole Mitin Mashi for the editing.
