However, Karan acknowledged that he lacked the courage to approach Shah Rukh or Kajol. (Also Read: Karan Johar may casually dismiss his first movie, but it still resonates 25 years later. Considerations for a cameo appearance by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Tum Kya Mile

Karan's words

The best scene in Tum Kya Mile, according to the entire AD team, should be when Alia (Bhatt) and Ranveer (Singh) are being pursued by Kajol and Shah Rukh. When Alia looks at them, she realizes that they stand for pure love. In the interview, Karan remarked, "And I was thinking, with what sort of guts do I have to go and ask Shah Rukh to not only do the cameo but also come to Kashmir, to go into costume.

Shah Rukh wouldn't have said no if he had asked, the speaker said. "Shah Rukh has never refused me. I have to be selective about what I ask. Like I recall, towards the end of the day, he looked at us and remarked, "This is Karan." I was with my team when we went to play that significant, powerful cameo in Brahmastra. I'm unable to refuse. I am aware that I must not take advantage of my sense of empowerment. In the same interview, Karan remarked, "I can't keep going back.

Kajol and Shah Rukh in Karan's movies

When Karan was an assistant director on Aditya Chopra's 1995 smash hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Shah Rukh and Kajol worked with him for the first time. They appeared in his 1998 directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, as promised, and then in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, released in 2001, and My Name Is Khan, released in 2010, respectively.

In addition to the major roles, Kajol had cameo appearances in two of Karan's films: the 2012 college comedy Student of the Year, which was co-produced by Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment, and the 2006 romantic comedy Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which starred Shah Rukh. In Karan's 2016 love drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the Jawan star also had a brief appearance.
