Kurmi Community Leaders Call Off Indefinite Rail Blockade in Jharkhand

As a result of the Kurmi community leaders' indefinite rail blockades at various Jharkhand stations starting on Wednesday, nearly 20 trains were cancelled and eight were diverted.

However, after a meeting between the Kurmi leaders and the government of Jharkhand and the Centre on Wednesday at 6.30 p.m., the agitation was called off.

After speaking with the federal and state governments, the Totemic Kurmi Vikash Morcha's central head Sheetal Ohdar announced the decision to end the agitation. On October 2, the Union home secretary has requested a meeting with us, and on October 5, the Jharkhand home secretary has agreed to meet with us to discuss our requests.

According to railway sources, the blockades caused rail traffic to be affected in the Howrah-Mumbai and Ranchi-Patna sections.

In the South Eastern Railway zone, 20 trains were canceled in total. The Howrah-Mumbai Mail, Bilaspur-Tatanagar Express, Howrah-Ahmedabad Express, and Howrah-Hatia Kriya Yoga Express are a few of the trains.

Trial of Vande Bharat in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, the Vande Bharat Express' test run between the steel city of Rourkela and the pilgrim city of Bhubaneswar officially began.

At 5 am, the train departed from Puri and arrived at Rourkela at 12.45 pm.

Returning passengers may expect their train to arrive in Rourkela at 9.40 p.m. after leaving at 2.10 p.m. Except for Saturday, the train will run six days a week.
