Maharashtra Dominates Modern Pentathlon and Gymnastics at National Games

At the 37th National Games held here on Friday, Maharashtra led the modern pentathlon medal tally with five gold, while Sanyukta Kale of Maharashtra and Pranati Nayak of Odisha shone in the gymnastics arena with their third gold medals apiece.

The women's trampoline gold was won by Rahil Pakhle, while Sanyukta, a rhythmic gymnast, secured her third gold medal.

Sanyukta made it three gold medals at the games after winning the gold medals for rhythmic team and all-around.

The artistic gymnast Pranati Nayak, who had already won gold in the solo all-around competition, added another gold medal to her account when she triumphed in the uneven bars and vaulting table events.

Later, in the men's floor exercise competition, Yogeshwar Singh of Haryana earned his second gold medal of the games.

In gymnastics, Manipur took home two gold medals, while Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh secured their first golds in the competition.

Maharashtra won all five of the available gold medals in the modern pentathlon triathlon event, going undefeated. Dolly Patil and Mayank Chaphekar each took home three gold medals.

In the men's 81-kg weightlifting category at the Campal Sports Village, Rajasthani Nitek Jangid won the first gold medal for his state in this year's National Games with a total lift of 317 kg.

With a total lift of 309 kg, Abhishek Nipane of Maharashtra earned bronze, and Valluri Ajay Babu of Madhya Pradesh won the silver medal with a lift of 312 kg.

Harijinder Kaur from Punjab won the gold medal in the women's 71 kg division by lifting a total of 201 kg.

With a total lift of 190 kg, Trupti Mane of Maharashtra came in a distant second, and P. Umeshwori Devi of Manipur took home the bronze with a total lift of 189 kg.

In the Women's Rugby 7s, Odisha defeated Bihar 12–7 to retain their championship.
