For Bengal's first two Ranji Trophy matches starting on January 5 in Visakhapatnam and Kanpur, respectively, against Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Tiwary will continue to captain the team.
Under Tiwary's leadership, Bengal finished the previous season as runners-up, but there is no assurance that he will remain in that role for the duration of the campaign. Following the two games, a call will be taken.
Shreyansh Ghosh, the opener, Sourav Paul, the wicketkeeper-battler, and the pacers Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Suman Das have all earned their first-ever Ranji call-ups.
Though Tiwary had declared his retirement on August 3, he decided to change his mind and play one more Ranji season in less than a week.
Shahbaz Ahmed, an injured all-round player, is not on the roster.
