In the wake of the Lok Sabha election results, senior leaders of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are poised to convene on Wednesday. The meeting is expected to be a pivotal moment for discussing the formation of the new government.
The assembly will witness the presence of key political figures such as JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alongside Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, who is anticipated to take office as the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Sources indicate that other prominent leaders from the BJP and its allied parties will also be in attendance.
The agenda is set to include a congratulatory session for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on the cusp of securing a historic third term. Despite the NDA’s comfortable lead with numbers well above the majority threshold of 272 in the 543-seat Lok Sabha, the BJP finds itself below the magic number, a situation unseen since 2014. This development underscores the critical role of its allies in the formation of the government.
The TDP, JD(U), the Eknath Shinde-led faction of Shiv Sena from Maharashtra, and the Chirag Paswan-led LJP (Ram Vilas) have secured 16, 12, seven, and five seats respectively.
