PM Modi Highlights National Security and NDA Unity in Bihar Rally
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar walks up to Narendra Modi at the rally in Jamui on Thursday.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused previous Congress administrations of being gullible when it came to national security and inserted "terror from small countries" into the Lok Sabha election campaign without specifically mentioning Pakistan.

India was viewed as a helpless and impoverished nation when under Congress control. After attacking us, terrorists from tiny nations used to return, craving aata, or wheat flour. The NDA's first rally in Bihar since the general election's announcement took place in Jamui, where Modi stated, "The Congress used to approach other countries with complaints."

"This India is the same India of Chandragupta Maurya, Magadh, and the magnificent Pataliputra. Today's Bharat thrashes them within their homes; Aaj ka Bharat ghar me ghus kar maarta hai. The world looks to Bharat of today for guidance.

Since the "surgical strikes" on PoK terror camps in 2016 and the airstrike on Balakot in February 2019, which by all accounts greatly aided the party during the previous general election, thrashing adversaries "inside their homes" has been a central BJP motif.

"Parties like the Congress and the RJD have damaged India's reputation internationally; on the other hand, there is the BJP and the NDA, whose only goal is to build a developed nation," the prime minister stated.

Modi stated, "The corrupt in the country have come together, but those who have looted the country will have to return it (the loot)" and mentioned the several corruption cases in which RJD president Lalu Prasad has been found guilty or charged.

According to Modi, the opposition INDIA alliance intended to usher in the "lantern age," whereas the NDA wants to lead the nation into a solar age. The RJD's electoral symbol is a lantern.

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) of Chirag Paswan is running from Jamui, which will cast its votes in the first round of the elections on April 19. Arun Bharti, Chirag's sister's spouse and brother-in-law, is running.

In the first round of voting, three more constituencies—Aurangabad, Nawada, and Gaya—will also cast ballots. The BJP is running in the first two, while Jitan Ram Manjhi, a former chief minister and leader of the Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular, is the NDA's candidate from Gaya. On March 2, Modi spoke at a rally in Aurangabad.

Painting a picture of NDA unity seemed to be one of the objectives of Thursday's program. While in attendance, Modi praised Nitish Kumar, the national president of Janata Dal United and chief minister, for maintaining a clean image. Arun and Chirag were referred to by Modi as his brothers.

Nitish mentioned the deplorable state of law and order in Bihar from 1990 to 2005, while the RJD was in power.

"No one was allowed to go outside in the nights. These days, Lalu Prasad and his son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav engage in pretentious conversation. For the fifteen years of their leadership, nothing positive occurred in Bihar. When we had the chance to work after them, we worked so hard," Nitish remarked.

Chirag also spoke to the group.

Amit Shah, the union home minister, has 23 rallies scheduled, while Modi will speak at 16 in Bihar. When the NDA secured 39 of Bihar's 40 Lok Sabha seats in 2019, they had spoken at 11 and 18, respectively, of public gatherings.

BJP officials told The Telegraph that because the battle in Bihar will be more difficult this time around, Modi and Shah would speak at more rallies than in 2019.

Dynasty tables were flipped

Using the same "dynasty politics" rod that the prime minister frequently wields against the opposition parties, Tejashwi retaliated. The leader of the RJD emphasized that family politics was evident in all four of the seats that Modi had gone to campaign for.

"There are just parivarvadi (dynastic) candidates running for the four seats. Arun Bharti, the candidate from Jamui, is the son-in-law of former Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan and the son of former MLC Jyoti Paswan, he stated.

"Sushil Kumar Singh, the candidate from Aurangabad, is the son of former MP Ram Naresh Singh; Manjhi, the candidate from Gaya, consistently promotes his son, Santosh Kumar Suman, the minister; Vivek Thakur, the candidate from Nawada, is the son of former Union minister CP Thakur."

According to Tejashwi, the NDA has put forward dynastic candidates for at least 14 of the 40 seats in Bihar.
