According to authorities on Saturday, a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA was detained for reportedly shooting and wounding a Shiv Sena politician headed by Eknath Shinde over a property dispute in Maharashtra's Thane district.

On Friday night, Mahesh Gaikwad, the head of the Shiv Sena in Kalyan, was shot by BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad inside the senior inspector's chamber of the Hill Line police station in the Ulhasnagar district, Additional Commissioner of Police Dattatrya Shinde informed the reporters.

Prior to his arrest, Ganpat Gaikwad claimed over the phone with the news channel "Zee24taas" that he had used the gun because his kid was being abused at the police station. According to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, there is an attempt to create a "kingdom of criminals" in Maharashtra.

After being brought to a nearby hospital, Mahesh Gaikwad was transferred to a private clinic in Thane city. "He had surgery, and it went well," Sena Kalyan in-charge Gopal Landge said.

Additional CP Shinde said that when Mahesh Gaikwad and his men arrived at the police station, Ganpat Gaikwad's son had come to file a complaint over a property dispute. Ganpat Gaikwad later made it to the police station as well.

According to the official, Ganpat Gaikwad reportedly fired rounds at Mahesh Gaikwad inside the senior inspector's chamber during an incident between the MLA and the Sena leader, hurting both of them.

Yes, I did shoot him on my own. I don't regret anything. "What will I do if my son is being beaten in front of the police inside the police station?" Ganpat Gaikwad questioned a news channel. He said he had fired five shots.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is allegedly "trying to create a kingdom of criminals in Maharashtra," according to the BJP MLA. The governing coalition in Maharashtra is made up of the BJP and the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

The police have detained two other people in addition to Ganpat Gaikwad. According to an official, they have been charged under sections 307 (attempt to kill) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.

"The only people born in Maharashtra will be criminals if Eknath Shinde becomes chief minister." "He has turned me from a decent person to a criminal today," he said, justifying his actions as self-defense.

The BJP MLA charged Shrikant Shinde, the MP for Kalyan and son of the chief minister, of hanging up signs and taking credit for his own labor. He said, "I had repeatedly informed my seniors that these individuals are engaging in violence against my leaders."

Ganpat Gaikwad said that he had purchased a property 10 years before in reference to the land issue that resulted in the shooting. He said that while there were some legal difficulties, they prevailed in court. But Mahesh Gaikwad said he took it by force.

According to the MLA, his son went to Ulhasnagar police station to file a complaint against the property.

"I have absolutely no regrets. I can't stand it as a parent when someone abuses my kid," he said.

"Shinde saheb betrayed Uddhav (Thackeray) saheb, he will also betray BJP," the MP said. I owe him billions of rupees. If Shinde were to step down, Maharashtra will not be well-managed. This is my modest appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
