On Saturday afternoon in Ranchi, a demonstration was organized by Left-leaning party members and a few other like-minded individuals to call for the arrest and disqualification of BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri.

After the nation learned that Bidhuri had screamed hateful, profane words at fellow BSP lawmaker Danish Ali inside of Parliament the other day, Bidhuri made headlines.

On Saturday late afternoon, over 40 CPI-ML members and sympathizers, as well as representatives of a few other political parties and social organizations, gathered near Sainik Market on Ranchi's main road to hold a demonstration that lasted over an hour.

As well as shouting those slogans, the protesters carried placards with the phrases "arrest BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri" and "asangsadiya bhasha ke liye Ramesh Bidhuri ko barkhast koro" written on them. Ramesh Bidhuri should be disqualified for using such language.

The demonstrators, who included top CPI-ML activists, asked in a later statement that in addition to the BJP MP's dismissal and his arrest, "legal action be initiated against Bidhuri for attempting to destabilize communal harmony."

The statement continued, "Taking no action against an MP who used unparliamentary language inside the Parliament, despite the existence of certain fixed norms about it, is dangerous for democracy," adding that taking no action would amount to favoritism.

The statement continued, "The only punishment the BJP MP deserves is his disqualification as an MP, his subsequent arrest, and legal proceedings for hate speech inside Parliament."

all-religion gathering

The gathering will take place at Haj House in Ranchi on October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti), according to Qazi Mufti Anwar Kashmi, head of the organization's Jharkhand branch.

He added that representatives from all other religions would also attend the meeting and that some of them would be invited to address the group.
