When the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) play Punjab Kings in their second IPL 2024 match on Monday, they will need to get better on all fronts.

RCB is playing at home, but they will need to be alert to make the most of the circumstances.

Although Bangalore's Chinnaswamy Stadium is renowned as a haven for hitters, the Royal Challengers of Bangalore's batting lineup appeared uneasy during their season-opening loss to the Chennai Super Kings.

The fact that Punjab, the team led by Faf du Plessis, started their season strong would give them extra motivation to make things harder for the squad.

It goes without saying that one of Du Plessis or Virat Kohli must have a fantastic day for RCB to do well. Although they do have an Australian, Glenn Maxwell, in the middle order, the club must get out to a strong start before the Australian can really get going with the bat.

For RCB, scoring in the middle overs is a major worry as well. Their middle overs are sometimes overly slow, which puts more pressure on them in the dying overs. Punjab boasts a player of the caliber of Arshdeep Singh, thus RCB would be wise to act quickly.

RCB will benefit from young keeper-batter Anuj Rawat's performance in the Chennai match, though.

RCB will also need to bowl more tightly, but aside from Mohammed Siraj, who else can really provide them an advantage? Reece Topley, a pacer, might be used in an attempt to surprise the opposition.

Punjab, however, appears to be better organized. Power hitters who can take use of the Chinnaswamy conditions more effectively than the home team make up their lineup.
