Love tales are a genre that has the potential to succeed in theaters provided they are presented on a specific scale with quality music and cinematography, according to actor Shahid Kapoor, who grew up watching them on large screens.

A unique love comedy centered on the relationship between a typical guy and a humanoid, the film "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya" is anticipated by the actor. The film, which also stars Kriti Sanon, opens in theaters on Friday.

"I've enjoyed listening to and seeing love tales on the big screen. I recall seeing "Aati Kya Khandala" from "Ghulam" or "Shava Shava" from "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..." for the first time on a large screen.

"Magic exists, but the music has to have that significance... The image must evoke a sense of delight that makes you want to applaud and whistle. We have thus made an effort to include all of that into the movie, although no genre can last for a whole year. In an interview with PTI, Shahid said, "It might be the flavor of the season."

Big-budget action films have been doing well at the box office in the last few months, leaving less room for other genres—"12th Fail," "Zara Hatke Zara Bachke," and "Dream Girl 2" being a few exceptions. Shahid said that a shift seems to have occurred after the coronavirus epidemic when audiences began to believe that only "slightly larger scale stuff" is for the big screen. This was in response to a question about the decreasing amount of room for personal storytelling in theaters.

"Before deciding to hit the big screen, every movie should ask itself, 'Why should people come to see me at the theatre?' With this movie, we've asked ourselves that question. "You need certain genres, but you also need strong films that fit those genres and convince viewers that going to the theater was worthwhile... What good is it to have a shop full of flavors if all that's accessible is vanilla? As viewers and performers alike, we'll be existing in a very constrained world," he said.

The 42-year-old claimed he was taken aback by the plot of "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya," which is a film by debutantes Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah that deals with the timely subject of artificial intelligence (AI) and how it affects daily life.

Shahid said that the group deliberated in-depth on how to carry out the concept in a professional manner.

"First, we began pushing the edge with AI, and subsequently we did so with SIFRA, the robot. We've already saw it occur with digital movies. He said, "I would estimate that 80% of the successful big-screen films have more visual effects than acting.

"We are aware that a movie's simulation may rival reality in certain cases. Take a look at "Avatar"; everything was computer generated, but it seemed genuine. What makes this movie unique is that although AI has already invaded our cosmos, it is unclear if it will do so in a personal connection. We are posing the question in an interesting and enjoyable manner, he said.

According to the actor, "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya" is a "genre-breaking idea" that he hopes would resonate with the theatergoers.

"We need to assess our ability to persuade and evoke strong emotions in viewers, as there is no purpose in creating a movie that doesn't elicit strong emotions." We emphasize the romantic portion of it because of this. We had other options on where to put it. Let's simply refer to it as a family amusement. However, I believe we've attempted to go a bit farther." Key parts in the film are played by veteran actors Dharmendra and Dimple Kapadia, which is produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. Laxman Utekar and Jyoti Deshpande co-produce it.
