The Rugby World Cup final last Saturday at the Stade de France in Saint-Dennis saw a much more competitive match as South Africa defeated New Zealand 12–11.

The South Africans easily defeated the New Zealanders by 190 runs on Wednesday in Pune, ensuring the match was entirely one-sided.

The Proteas defeated the Black Caps for 167 thanks to the masterminding of centurions Quinton de Kock (114), who is playing at his best, Rassie van der Dussen (133), and left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj (4/46).

following a 357/4 score while batting.

With 87 balls remaining, New Zealand lost the match, so they have a lot to think about. Despite being ahead of Pakistan by net run rate, they are now ranked No. 4 in the rankings after suffering two straight losses.

While the team waits to see if regular captain Kane Williamson will return, they now have to worry about pacer Matt Henry's right hamstring injury and all-rounder Jimmy Neesham's right wrist injury sustained while attempting a return catch of Van der Dussen.

Neesham's injury severely affected his bowling, as he gave up 69 runs in just 5.3 overs while Henry was only able to bowl 5.3 overs. Even the immensely skilled Tim Southee was pricey; this was his first World Cup since his injury return.

Unlike them, New Zealand even missed a few catches.

South Africa, who have reclaimed the top spot, are undoubtedly well-prepared for their match against an undefeated India on Sunday at the Eden.
