Taylor Swift Unveils Release Date for 'The Tortured Poets Department' Album in Grammy Acceptance Speech

The singer-songwriter revealed the release date of her next studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, in her acceptance speech on Monday, the day she won the Grammy for best pop vocal album for Midnights.

"I would want to express my gratitude to all of you by sharing with you a secret that I have been concealing for the last two years: my brand-new album will be released on April 19th. The Department of Tortured Poets is the name of it. The 34-year-old singer said, "I'm going to go and post the cover," at the 66th Grammy Awards event held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Swift posted the album cover on Instagram shortly after making the announcement live on stage. "In poetry and love, everything is fair... THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT, the new album. Out April 19 ????," she said as the post's caption.

Photographed in monochrome by fine art photographer Beth Garrabrant, the image showcases a lady dressed in a black shirt and matching shorts. The album title is bolded and displayed at the top.

Swift included a verse with her post, which is most likely a line from one of the songs on the next album. The song's lyrics were, "And so I enter into evidence/My tarnished coat of arms/My muses, acquired like bruises/My talismans and charms/The tick, tick, tick, of love bombs/ My veins of pitch black ink."

A concert video made by Sam Wrench was just published by Swift, whose The Eras Tour has been extended until November of this year with additional sites throughout the US and Canada. At the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards last year, she also won The Artist of the Year.
