K-Drama Gems of 2023: Captivating Stories and Stellar Performances
A moment from Doctor Cha

Doctor Cha, which follows the life and struggles of Cha Jeong-suk, a gifted medical student who becomes pregnant out of wedlock and has give up her career to become a stay-at-home mother, is my favorite K-drama of 2023. a circumstance to which millions of Asian ladies can identify. First-generation K-pop diva Uhm Junh-hwa portrays Cha Jeong-suk brilliantly as she discovers her doctor husband is having an extramarital affair. It prompts her to assert her legitimate position in the world. She interns at her husband's hospital as she starts over in life. It is a striking and moving depiction of a strong, wronged lady. My favorite K-dramas are the family dramas and thrillers, with their captivating storylines and outstanding acting. Every performer, regardless of the size of the part, has given it their all. I saw three of these dramas in 2023: Mask Girl, The Good Bad Mother, and The Glory. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Jin Young-soon, who was portrayed by Ra Mi-ran in The Good Bad Mother. Mi-ran captivated me with her acting abilities as she changed from a lively girlfriend to a strict mother and finally to a cancer-stricken sympathetic struggling mother who will stop at nothing to make her son happy. Long after I finished watching the drama, I could not stop thinking about her happy expression. I also have to note Lee Do-hyun's portrayal of Choi Kang-ho. His portrayal of a strict lawyer to a paralyzed kid who had forgotten the past was heartwarming.

The Descendants of the Sun heroine Song Hye-kyo gave a truly amazing performance in the second, The Glory. It was satisfying to witness her exact revenge on her bullies in a cool, collected manner.

Last but not least, I adored how Mask Girl "unmasked" the shallowness of Korean culture when it comes to beauty, the callousness and lack of compassion for those who have experienced trauma, and the unforgiving, vengeful spirit of a mother who has lost her kid.

Many new K-dramas were released this year, and I quickly began to love them. Several K-dramas are included in my list, including See You in My 19th Life, Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938, The Glory, and The Heavenly Idol, among many more. But Dr. Romantic Season 3 is the most highly ranked. The third season of this medical drama series has been the most captivating and interesting to watch, in my opinion. This K-drama made me like medical dramas even more. I learned about the different emergencies that committed medical professionals and nurses manage with competence and care, as well as the tough decisions they have to make when caring for patients. In addition, Seo Woo-jin (Ahn Hye-seop) and Cha Eun-jae (Lee Se-kyung) had a revitalizing and calming connection.

Behind Your Touch is the K-drama I think is the best of 2023. This Korean drama, which starred Suho, Lee Min-ki, and Han Ji-min, had an engrossing and captivating plot that centered on the two main characters, Bong Ye-boon, a hot-headed investigator, and Moon Jang-yeol, a psychometric with the unique ability to perceive people's pasts through touch. The plot is on how they work together to solve crimes in the little hamlet of Mujin. I had so much fun watching this humorous series that had the ideal balance of humor, magic, and mystery.
